the last week of my life was basically on pause. i had the flu. no, not a cold, or a stomach bug, but the official TYPE-A INFLUENZA. it was terrible. i don't recommend enduring a week of pure misery to anyone (not that i am in the habit of recommending illnesses). unless you're into that sort of thing.
last monday it started as a little tickle cough. you know the kind that you get as a residual leftover from laughing too darn hard? then monday night i had fitful dreams filled with more irritating dry coughing. by tuesday morning, i knew something was not right. i figured it was just the start of what we like to call "sinus problems" around this house. i flushed my sinuses that morning and went to work. by the time lunch rolled around, i knew i was getting downright sick. i felt terribly feverish. my wonderful coworker offered to stay in my place and i left work early. i went home and then to bed. that was the start of 5 straight days of high fever (102.5 at times). wednesday afternoon, rick took me to the doctor and they did a VERY unpleasant swab of my nose and that's when i had my answer. the flu.
so this is how i managed to survive. in case anyone else out there gets this ill. (pardon the melodramatics. they make me feel better.)
1. grandma pants. a gift from my best friends. they are HUGE fleece pants. one size fits all.

2.
theraflu. a wonderful warm tea that makes me feel like i took a valium within minutes. i slept like nobody's business after drinking.
3. puffs plus with vicks vapor. kept my nose from turning into a bloody scab (gross).
4. relenza. the official flu medicine. says it is strong enough to ward off the bird flu (what?!).
5. pets. lots of time spent snuggling with the dogs and cat. they helped when i felt particularly chilled. everyone needs at least one of these. highly recommended.
