and that would be the reason for the absence of any blog posts. so sorry.
i am having so much fun with facebook though, because i have reconnected with friends from junior high, high school, college, and everything in between and it is so fun to hear about everyone's successes.
the following list is a "note" that is being passed around facebook. basically like a chain email, but for facebook. you list 25 random things about yourself and then "tag" 25 people...then they do the same. a great way to catch up on the past. or to just learn more about one another.
1. My father lived through both the Dust Bowl and Great Depression and was a Navy Seal in World War II.
2. My husband and I have owned 5 homes in 6 years...and that seems perfectly normal to me.
3. I was taught to think before speaking. I apparently did not absorb that lesson too well, as my mouth operates independently from my brain.
4. I think one of the most beautiful places in the world is Neah Bay, Washington...the most northwestern point of the continental US...and in my opinion, is the gateway to the world.
5. After all these years, I still love my hair and think it is one of my best features.
6. I love my dogs to the point of obsession. When they were missing, I almost lost my job and I thought I would die from a broken heart. (I got them both back)
7. I once operated an empty coal train in the middle of the night.
8. I have no tolerance for lies. None.
9. I own a mentally retarded cat (seriously) that is completely incapable of any normal cat behavior. He recently broke his toe jumping off the kitchen counter.
10. My father and grandfather died within 6 months of one another. Both from lung related diseases. It was devastating and it still feels like yesterday to me.
11. I am an avid papercrafter. But rather than scrapbooking the obvious, I use it to convey my feelings...it is my form of therapy and I need it like I need air to breathe.
12. I played matchmaker once. Turned out well. They have been married 5 years this year and I happily take credit for their success.
13. I prefer to be alone. I think I may be a hermit.
14. I dislike shopping. Period. The only exception is when it is for art supplies.
15. I liked high school but I LOVED college. All 4.5 years of it. I would repeat it again in a heartbeat. It was the best time of my life.
16. I love the ocean and snow. Everything else doesn’t matter.
17. I someday plan on owning a home in a remote coastal town that gets lots of snow. Maine has always been in my dreams...
18. I believe that a Bloody Mary should be considered food. I have often had one as a meal.
19. I wish I were a better photographer because everything I see, I see it as a snapshot of my life.
20. I seriously considered joining the Coast Guard after college. I even contacted a recruiter.
21. I am extremely sensitive, I hate losing, and I am very selfish. This may be because I am an only child (although my loving mother did teach me differently).
22. I was named Rachel partly because it was a name that could not be rightfully shortened into a nickname...though some still try.
23. I fully believe people look like their pets...or at least they begin to resemble them over time.
24. I look like my father and I am totally okay with that.
25. When I was 23, I packed up everything I owned and moved to a small town in southern Colorado, where I started a new life with no friends and, in the end, after the biggest heartbreak of my life, I left, with my best friend...my husband.
so for those of you that are on facebook...POKE.
